On Tuesday, December 13, representatives from Higher Education and Ministry (HEM) and Discipleship Ministries (DM) met to witness the signing of an agreement to continue their partnership around the E-Readers for Theological Education Project through the next quadrennium.

Begun as a pilot project at Gbarnga School of Theology in Liberia, the E-Reader Project has spread to 20 United Methodist theological institutions in Africa and 6 schools in the Philippines.

DM General Secretary Rev. Junius Dotson and HEM General Secretary Dr. Kim Cape signed the agreement for the project, which specifies that the partnership is “to serve the United Methodist Church in the spirit of Jesus Christ who calls us together to develop leaders, equip and educate the saints, and build up the Church for the work of God transforming the world.” The duration of the agreement is from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2020.

Other participants in the meeting included Rev. Stephen Bryant, Rev. Dr. Beauty Maenzanise, Dr. Amos Nascimento, Robin Pippin, Scott Gilpin, and Janet Jamieson. The group heard updates on the Project, which includes the formation of an Africa E-Reader Team and three regional Hubs to conduct some operations of the Project.
